What's the best flooring for a Manchester flat or apartment?
It depends on the building. Converted properties — like old warehouses in Ancoats — usually have concrete subfloors which are excellent for LVT, engineered wood or even stone tiles. Purpose-built flats often have sound-attenuation requirements that limit what you can lay. We'll check whether there are any restrictions in your lease and factor that into our recommendation. Generally, LVT with a good underlay is the safest and most practical option for flats in Manchester.
Can you install herringbone in a Victorian terrace?
Yes — and it looks brilliant when it's done right. The key is subfloor preparation. Victorian suspended timber floors need to be well-secured and level before a herringbone pattern goes down. Any movement or unevenness will show in the finished floor. We take the prep seriously, which is why our herringbone installs look the way they do. We offer herringbone in both LVT (more affordable, great for kitchens and hallways) and engineered wood (for a more premium finish in living rooms).
Can you fit flooring over underfloor heating in Manchester new builds?
Yes — but it needs to be done carefully. LVT and engineered wood are both compatible with underfloor heating systems, provided the screed is fully dried and the UFH has been commissioned properly before installation. New builds sometimes get handed over before the screed is ready, so we always check moisture levels first. Fitting on wet screed is the single biggest cause of flooring failures in new builds — we won't skip that step.
