Flooring That Fits Liverpool Homes

Liverpool has a rich variety of housing — and a lot of it is older. In Woolton, Allerton and West Derby you'll find substantial Edwardian and interwar semis with original timber floors underneath years of carpet. In Aigburth and Crosby there are terraces and semis in good nick, many with the kind of solid subfloor that suits engineered wood or solid boards. Then there's the waterfront — modern apartments and converted spaces where LVT and clean contemporary finishes are the preference.

We work across all of Liverpool, from the suburbs out to Crosby in the north and right down to Aigburth in the south. We know the area and we understand what different property types need before a single plank goes down.

Parquet is particularly popular in Liverpool's larger period properties — if you've got a home in Woolton or Allerton with original block flooring, we can restore it or help you find a new parquet that suits the character of the house.

Services Available in Liverpool

LVT Installation

LVT is the most practical choice for Liverpool's older terraces and semis where the subfloor may be uneven or damp-prone. Waterproof, low-maintenance and available in a wide range of wood and stone looks — it works in every room including kitchens and bathrooms.

Engineered Wood

Ideal for the larger Edwardian properties in Woolton, Allerton and West Derby. Wide-plank engineered oak looks exceptional in a period hallway or living room. More stable than solid wood, better suited to older buildings with natural temperature variation.

Parquet & Herringbone

Liverpool's larger period properties are among the best settings for parquet flooring in the North West. We install traditional parquet blocks and herringbone patterns in both engineered wood and LVT. If there's original block flooring underneath your carpet, we can assess whether it's worth restoring.

Why Choose a Local Flooring Specialist?

We understand Liverpool's property types

The older properties in Woolton and Crosby need a different approach to the modern apartments near the waterfront. We know what subfloors to expect and how to prepare them properly — that prep work is what separates a floor that lasts from one that doesn't.

Quick, personal response

We aim to call back within 2 hours and can arrange a home visit quickly. No waiting weeks for an availability slot or dealing with a customer service team who can't answer technical questions.

Over 30 years experience

We've been fitting floors across Merseyside for decades. That experience means we've encountered every challenge these properties can throw at us — and we know how to handle them.

One company, start to finish

We supply the flooring and fit it. No split responsibility, no blaming the fitter when the product has a problem or vice versa. If something isn't right, we put it right.

Engineered oak herringbone — ground floor, period semi, Allerton

LVT throughout — Victorian terrace, Aigburth

Wide-plank engineered oak — Edwardian semi, Crosby

"We bought a 1920s semi in Woolton and the whole ground floor had carpet that hadn't been lifted in about 30 years. Halvar came out, had a proper look under the carpet in a few spots and found original parquet blocks in the dining room that were in good condition. They restored those and fitted engineered oak in the hall and living room to match. The result is incredible. They were honest, tidy and did exactly what they said they would."

Flooring Questions — Liverpool

What should I know about timber subfloors in Liverpool terraces?

Most Liverpool terraces built before the 1950s have suspended timber subfloors — wooden joists with floorboards on top. These can be in excellent condition or they can have areas of movement, rot or insect damage. Before we fit anything, we lift floor coverings to check. If the subfloor is solid and level, engineered wood or LVT can go straight over the top. If it needs work, we'll tell you what's needed and factor that into the quote. Never fit a new floor over an unchecked timber subfloor — problems underneath will always come through.

What's the best flooring for a Liverpool flat?

For apartments and flats in Liverpool — whether that's a converted building near the waterfront or a purpose-built block — LVT is usually the best choice. It's quiet underfoot, waterproof, handles the humidity that can affect flats, and installs quickly with minimal disruption. If you're in a leasehold flat, check your lease for any restrictions on hard flooring — some require acoustic underlay as a minimum. We'll advise on this when we visit.
